Bio: Kori VanDerGeest is an epidemiologist at the Albuquerque Area Southwest Tribal Epidemiology Center (AASTEC). She earned her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Washington in environmental health and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Pomona College. She has public health experience in a variety of settings, including community based participatory research on water quality in rural Latinx communities and surveillance/program evaluation related to nutrition and physical activity. While at AASTEC, Kori has supported data analysis and dissemination on HIV, STDs, and drug overdose in partnership with Tribal Communities in New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas. Kori grew up in Albuquerque, NM and is happy to be back home after many years living out of state. In her free time, she enjoys reading and hiking with her dog in the Sandia foothills..
